Champions of Sustainability Contest

When researching your project, consider how it will sustainably affect your school, students, staff, community and most importantly – our environment. Projects can include gardening, water programs, recycling or renewable energy just to name a few. Get creative and remember – it’s all about sustainability!

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), through our Energy for Education initiative, invites all schools within our service area to participate in our inaugural Champions of Sustainability contest. To be considered, kindly submit a written statement describing an earth-friendly project to be implemented at your school that promotes preserving the environment by making smart choices.

Three schools will be selected as winners. The first place Green Team Champion Award is a $2,500 prize, the second place Silver Award is $1,500 and the third place Bronze Award is $1,000. The proposals will be judged on content, sustainability, creativity and overall presentation. Schools submitting Champions of Sustainability contest proposals must email:

1) A detailed written statement describing the following:
  • The project.
  • How will the project be sustainable?
  • Who will be involved? Students must be incorporated into the project plan.
  • Who will benefit from this project and how?
  • What is the approximate cost of the project?

2) A statement the project is attainable and will be implemented on or before May 31, 2023.

3) Photo(s) and/or picture(s) depicting your project plan.
