NEW JERSEY NATURAL GAS HOSTS ENERGY ASSISTANCE DAYS TO BRING SUPPORT CLOSER TO HOME FOR CUSTOMERS
08/31/2026 - For Immediate ReleaseWALL, N.J. – Throughout September, October and early November, New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) will hold its annual Energy Assistance Days, featuring 27 events throughout Monmouth, Ocean and Morris counties in advance of the winter heating season. At these in-person events, customers can meet one-on-one with NJNG representatives and local community action agencies to learn about available energy assistance programs to help pay their energy bills, determine eligibility and receive support with the application process. Customers can also explore ways to better manage their energy costs and improve home comfort throughout the year. In addition, customers who are behind on their natural gas bills may qualify for payment arrangements to help bring their accounts current.
“Every household’s situation is unique, and Energy Assistance Days events connect customers with resources that best fit their individual energy needs,” said Maria Delaplain, manager of Customer Outreach at New Jersey Natural Gas. “Many people are surprised to learn they may qualify for assistance.” For example, a family of four with a household income of up to $164,337 may be eligible. NJNG’s Energy Assistance team now processes applications for first-time applicants, making it easier for customers to access available support.
Bilingual representatives from both NJNG’s Energy Assistance team and the local community action agencies will be available to help customers navigate available grants and determine eligibility. Representatives will also provide guidance throughout the application process for a variety of assistance programs, including:
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)*
- Universal Service Fund (USF)*
- Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE) *
- NJ SHARES Energy Assistance Grant*
To apply for assistance, customers must bring the following current documents:
