NEW JERSEY RESOURCES EMPLOYEES MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR GIRL SCOUTS OF THE JERSEY SHORE
06/26/2025 - For Immediate ReleaseWaretown, N.J. – As a part of its commitment to building strong communities, New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR) hosted its annual NJR You Days to help refurbish Camp Amity Acres in Ocean County, N.J. and helped make a lasting difference for the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. Over the course of two days, more than 200 employees from across NJR came together to help rebuild, restore and improve facilities at the camp.
“New Jersey Resources has long shared a deep connection with the communities we serve – it is a part of the identity and culture of our company,” said Steve Westhoven, president and CEO of New Jersey Resources. “NJR You Days is an important part of that commitment. It’s an opportunity for us to give back and make a meaningful difference where it is needed most. The work our employees accomplished this year at Camp Amity Acres will benefit the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, the girls they serve and the communities we share for years to come.”
As part of NJR You Days, employees dedicated approximately 1,000 hours of service and helped transform facilities at the nearly 60-acre camp in Waretown. Overall, they overhauled the large and small amphitheaters, installed split-rail fencing, framed and installed 20 storm doors on raised tents and built new benches at the fire pit and climbing wall. They also refurbished the outside lodge with flowerboxes and wood chips, enhanced the beach, redid the gaga pits and painted the interior of the lodge, yurts, pavilions and 64 picnic tables and much more.
Like many nonprofits, the Girl Scouts operate on a strict budget. The extensive work accomplished by NJR helped beautify the camp and complete long-term wish list projects that they might not otherwise have been able to do. More importantly, it enables the Girl Scouts to focus on their core mission of developing girls of courage, confidence, and character and inspiring them to make our communities and the world a better place.
NJR You Days was created by NJR to bring employees together with area nonprofit and community-based groups to create positive change and have a lasting impact in its service territory. Since 2009, employees have dedicated approximately 15,000 hours of service to help nonprofit and community groups throughout its service territory as part of this annual program.
