NEW JERSEY NATURAL GAS HOSTED ENERGY ASSISTANCE CONFERENCE FOR LOCAL NONPROFITS

WALL, N.J. - New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), recently hosted an Energy Assistance Conference to educate local nonprofits and municipalities on energy assistance programs, including direct grants, as well as home energy-efficiency and weatherization opportunities for low- and moderate-income households. The conference was designed to ensure front-line organizations are fully equipped with the information and resources required to best support community members when addressing their energy needs.

The event provided the latest updates on the:
  • 2024 heating season
  • Federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  • State-funded Universal Service Fund
  • The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Payment Assistance for Gas & Electric Program
  • New Jersey SHARES
  • NJNG’s Gift of Warmth
  • New Jersey Comfort Partners Program
  • NJNG’s Home Weatherization Program
  • And more

“Making sure nonprofits and local government professionals know about available programs is an important step to helping community members connect with and benefit from these vital resources,” said Maria Delaplain, manager of Energy Assistance at New Jersey Natural Gas. “Our goal is to ensure that residents in our service territory have multiple points of access to much-needed programs to help pay and lower their energy bills. These organizations and agencies are often the first point of contact to help customers get the assistance they need,” Delaplain continued.

Beginning March 22, 2024, NJNG will provide on-site payment assistance at its payment centers in Asbury Park and Lakewood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on select days. Customers who may be experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to stop by. Local community agencies also will be available to help customers with program eligibility and the application process.

Representatives from the Community Affairs and Resource Center (CARC) will at NJNG’s Asbury Park Payment Center, located at 633 Lake Avenue, on the following days:
  • March 22 and 29
  • April 5, 12, 19 and 26
  • May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31
  • June 7, 14, 21 and 28

Affordable Housing Alliance will be at NJNG’s Asbury Park Payment Center on:
  • March 25
  • April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
  • May 6, 13 and 20
  • June 3, 10, 17 and 24

CARC and OCEAN Inc. will be at NJNG’s Lakewood Payment Center, located at 775 Vassar Avenue, on:
  • March 25
  • April 12
  • May 10
  • June 17
