12/12/2023 - For Immediate Release

Pottstown, PA – Adelphia Gateway LLC, owned and operated by New Jersey Resources’ (NYSE: NJR) Storage and Transportation (S&T), was recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) with the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence. This award recognizes exceptional workplace safety programs and the superior collaboration between management and employees that make these programs successful.

“Safety is our top priority at Adelphia Gateway. It is also a shared responsibility,” said James Eckert, Vice President of Storage and Transportation and President of Adelphia Gateway. “As a company that is in the lifeline service business, we are committed to making safety a part of everything we do. To receive the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence and have our efforts recognized by Department of Labor and Industry is an honor. More importantly, it is a testament to our safety culture and the work of every member of our team who puts it into action every day. They are the driving force behind this recognition and all our accomplishments.”

Adelphia Gateway is an 84-mile, FERC-regulated interstate pipeline that runs from Lower Mount Bethel Township to Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania. Converted from a former oil pipeline to natural gas, Adelphia Gateway serves customers in constrained markets in southeastern Pennsylvania and has capacity to deliver up to 0.85 Bcf of safe, reliable, domestic natural gas per day. The pipeline provides access to domestic natural gas supply to more than 250,000 mid-Atlantic households each year.

The Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence reflects Adelphia Gateway’s exemplary safety record and the high proficiency of its extensive safety training and health and wellness programs. From its pre-operational process and preventive measures to its near miss reporting and best practices review, a commitment to safety is encouraged and reinforced at every level of the company’s operations.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry recognizes exemplary workplace safety programs with the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence. The award celebrates innovations and strong collaborations by management and employees that make company’s safety programs successful. It is presented each year to outstanding Pennsylvania employers who effectively demonstrate effective leadership and strategies the advance safety, protect workers, produce tangible improvements and increase productivity.

“In an industry where safety is paramount, Adelphia Gateway’s approach stands out. Their commitment goes beyond compliance - it is a testament to the value they place on every individual’s well-being,” said L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker. “The success of their safety program is not just in its effectiveness but in how it fosters a culture where every employee is an active participant in creating a safer, more productive workplace.”
