NEW JERSEY RESOURCES HELPS MAKE HOLIDAY WISHES COME TRUE FOR LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED

12/22/2022 - For Immediate Release

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – In the spirit of the season, New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR) joined with the Vin Gopal Civic Association to help make the holidays special for deserving families in Monmouth County. NJR volunteers, including President and CEO Steve Westhoven and members of the company’s leadership team, were on hand at the Ocean First Center at Monmouth University to spread holiday cheer and distribute toys, gifts and presents to those in need. In total, the event benefitted more than 570 families.

“The joy of giving is what makes the holidays special,” said Steve Westhoven, President and CEO of New Jersey Resources. “Each year, the Vin Gopal Civic Association does a tremendous job with its Christmas Toy Drive, and New Jersey Resources is pleased to support this worthy cause. Helping holiday wishes come true for some deserving families is what the spirt of the season is all about.”

“I want to thank New Jersey Resources for its sponsorship, and its leadership team who came out in force with more than a dozen volunteers to make this Christmas Toy Drive a huge success,” said Vin Gopal, President of the Vin Gopal Civic Association. “This year we were able to spread holiday cheer to an incredible number of families in need and help make Christmas a little brighter for Monmouth communities.”

Each year, NJR and its employees dedicate thousands of hours volunteering to help support local non-profit and community organizations throughout its service territory, including the Vin Gopal Civic Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded by New Jersey State Senator Vin Gopal dedicated to uplifting communities in Central Monmouth County primarily through senior outreach, youth programs, and support for other community, civic and religious organizations.

In addition to the toy drive, this holiday season NJR’s employee volunteers have helped support the Warmest Wishes Coat Drive, collecting more than 1,000 coats for distribution at local schools. They also packed over 350 holiday meals, 1,000 basic needs bags and assembled emergency food-boxes for local families in need.

Over the past year alone, NJR volunteers provided more than 2,000 hours of service and helped make a difference for over 1,800 groups.
