NEW JERSEY RESOURCES EMPLOYEES MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK

Seaside Park, N.J. – Over the course of two consecutive Fridays at the start of this summer, employees from New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), the parent company of New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), dedicated over 1,000 hours of volunteer service as part of its annual NJR You Days to help clean beaches, restore equipment and refurbish facilities at Island Beach State Park (IBSP). Located in the heart of NJNG’s service territory, IBSP is the largest reserve of undeveloped barrier island in the state. With its extensive shoreline and marquee beaches, the Park attracts approximately one million visitors annually.

“NJR You Days is always a great event, and it’s rewarding to see so many members of our team come together to give back to the community in a real, tangible way,” said Steve Westhoven, President and CEO of New Jersey Resources. “The incredible work our employees accomplished at Island Beach State Park will be enjoyed by visitors to the Jersey Shore for years to come.”

Over 200 men and women from all levels of the company came together as part of this volunteer effort to help protect the Jersey Shore and make a difference in the communities NJR serves. In total, employees were able to:
  • Construct 8 lifeguard stands.
  • Assemble and stain 23 Leopold benches.
  • Install post and rail fencing at 23 beach trails.
  • Paint 20 handicap parking spaces.
  • Paint the interior and exterior of the IBSP administration building.
  • Clean miles of state beaches.
NJR You Days is a company initiative created by NJR to bring employees together with area nonprofit and community-based groups to create positive change and have a lasting impact in its service territory. Since 2009, employees have dedicated over 12,000 hours of service to help 12 nonprofit and community groups. This year’s NJR You Days was the first since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the course of two days, more than 200 employees helped clean the beaches and refurbish the facilities at IBSP.
