Announcing the 2026 Champions of Sustainability Contest Winners!
Thank you to all staff and students who participated in NJNG’s Champions of Sustainability Contest. Each project supported sustainabity in school communities, while improving facilities and promoting energy conservation. We look forward to seeing new proposals in 2027.
🥇Morris County School of Technology
The First Place Green Team Champion Award of $2,500 goes to Morris County School of Technology, Denville. Their proposal is to transform an underutilized greenhouse into a student-built, interdisciplinary hydroponics lab where multiple career programs collaborate to design, build and monitor sustainable growing systems. The project creates a hands-on, data-driven learning environment that supports food production, resource efficiency and real-world career skills.
🥈Township of Ocean Intermediate School
The Second Place Silver Award of $1,500 goes to Township of Ocean Intermediate School, Ocean Township. Their proposal expands a naturalized stormwater detention basin and certified Monarch Waystation to improve water quality, reduce runoff and create a larger pollinator habitat. The project also serves as an outdoor learning lab, engaging students in ecosystem restoration, biodiversity and sustainable water management.
🥉Collier Youth Services
The Third Place Bronze Award of $1,000 goes to Collier School, Wickatunk. Their proposal converts an underused courtyard into a sensory-friendly outdoor classroom with garden beds, seating and student-designed art.
