A Letter from our CEO

This is New Jersey Resources’ (NYSE:NJR) 10th annual Corporate Sustainability Report, aimed at showing our stakeholders who we are and how we run our business. The energy industry is changing rapidly. This is driven by technological progress and disruption, a long-term transition to a low carbon future, and a population more attuned to sustainability up and down the value chain.

From top to bottom, our company believes that sustainability is directly linked to our performance and success. At NJR, we strive to foster a corporate culture that recognizes and acts on our environmental, social and governance (ESG) responsibilities. And, we recognize that achieving harmony and balance among these priorities – company values, beliefs, obligations to society and our commercial success – is the best way to secure NJR’s future in a world we are proud to hand down to our children and grandchildren.

As a diversified energy company, NJR is focused on meeting both the energy and sustainability challenges of today by delivering reliable and clean energy that meets the expectations of our stakeholders. We believe our customers should not only be comforted by a warm home, but should also feel good knowing where the energy they use comes from.

Across our operations, our company is transforming the role of natural gas in a low carbon future by focusing on:

  • Minimizing our environmental impact through best practices;
  • Promoting the economical use of resources;
  • Leading the way to a cleaner, fairer economy, through our clean energy and energy efficiency investments;
  • Positioning ourselves to meet our customers’ needs and exceed their expectations well into the future; and,
  • Acting on our values and beliefs to make a difference in the lives of our customers, employees and communities.

Without the effort, hard work and passion of our employees who give their best every day, these would just be words on a page. We are proud to recognize the incredible work of our more than 1,000 women and men who champion environmental responsibility in our operations and make our investments in clean energy and sustainable programs possible.

With all of this in mind, we are optimistic about the strides made by NJR in meeting our ongoing commitment to sustainability, and we are pleased to share the New Jersey Resources 2018 Corporate Sustainability Report.
