NEW JERSEY NATURAL GAS AND TECHNIART JOIN STATEWIDE EFFORT TO ENCOURAGE EFFICIENT LIGHTING
03/24/2009 - For Immediate ReleaseTechniArt, a privately held company that develops and markets products that save energy, will provide the products for sale. The company is a partner with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program through the Green New Jersey Resource Team.
The lighting fair will be held April 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at NJNG headquarters located at 1415 Wyckoff Road in Wall. The event is open to the public.
“Taking active steps to conserve energy at home is one way we all can take part in Governor Corzine’s plan to reduce energy use 20 percent by 2020,” said BPU President Jeanne M. Fox. “Energy conservation saves money and improves our environment by reducing emissions that cause global warming.”
Representatives from NJNG will also be available to discuss and demonstrate how the company’s free, online Conserve to Preserve Dashboard can help customers to lower their energy bills. Additionally, information about other programs and offers through New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program will be accessible.
CFLs use about 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs, last up to 10 times longer and can help residents save approximately $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb. By upgrading nearly half a million incandescent bulbs to ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs, the Green New Jersey Resource Team has the potential to help participating residents collectively save about $12 million on their electric bills and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 330 million pounds over the life of the bulbs. The carbon reduction is the equivalent to removing 28,846 cars from the road for one year.
