New Jersey Natural Gas

NJNG OFFERS CUSTOMERS NEW, UNIQUE WAYS TO SAVE ENERGY
02/20/2008 - For Immediate Release

WALL, NJ – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is offering customers easy and affordable ways to save energy and money during the winter heating season.

An exclusive conservation kit, available only to NJNG customers, provides quick, do-it-yourself energy-saving opportunities. Additionally, the company’s new Conserve to Preserve® Dashboard, an online energy information center, provides customers the ability to track their energy usage and recommends tips and programs to help drive down energy costs.

For just $10, the NJNG Conservation Kit contains a variety of items that will better insulate homes to keep warm air inside while also lowering energy use. Contents include window insulation kits, switch and outlet gaskets, one 14-watt and one 20-watt compact fluorescent light bulb, a 30-foot roll of rope caulk, a roll of adhesive weather-stripping and two self stick door sweeps. A limited supply of these kits is available, so customers are encouraged to place their order soon by calling, toll-free, 1-800-777-5655. Conservation kits can also be ordered online by visiting the Conserve to Preserve section of NJNG’s Web site, njliving.com.

The Conserve to Preserve Dashboard, a new online tool available to NJNG customers, is a personalized home energy analysis center. Accessed through njliving.com, the Dashboard enables customers to track and analyze their energy use. Because the Dashboard integrates with the Home Energy Analysis provided by New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, customers can run reports and create graphs to see where their energy dollars are spent. After answering a few simple questions about their home, appliances and living habits, customers will receive customized recommendations to make their homes more energy-efficient and comfortable while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Dashboard also enables customers to compare their homes’ energy use to homes of similar size and style in their area. They can even find out what it costs to run their appliances and how much can be saved by installing new high-efficiency equipment. Because the Dashboard is a living tool, each time customers log in, they can re-evaluate their energy use and track the results of any conservation efforts. To get started, customers should visit njliving.com and select the quicklink for the Conserve to Preserve Dashboard.

NJNG’s Conserve to Preserve program encourages wise energy use for the protection of our environment and natural resources. Since its inception in late 2006, the company has provided tools and information to help customers to save over $50 million and more than 48 million therms of natural gas, the equivalent of the annual consumption of 42,000 homes. Additional information about Conserve to Preserve, as well as energy-saving tips and special offers related to conservation and energy efficiency, can be found in the Conservation section of njliving.com.
