New Jersey Natural Gas

NJNG TO PROVIDE $51.5 MILLION CUSTOMER REFUND

WALL, N.J. – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) today notified the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities that it will provide refunds totaling $51.5 million to residential and small commercial sales customers using less than 5,000 therms annually.

“Our customers count on us to provide them with reliable service and value,” said Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of NJNG. “This refund underscores our commitment to fulfilling those expectations and will provide some welcome relief as we head into the winter heating season, when bills tend to be higher. As always, we will continue to monitor the natural gas market and do all we can to capture, and pass on to our customers, any savings that become available in an environment that remains volatile.”

Customers will see this refund on their December bill. The typical residential heating customer can expect a refund of approximately $120. NJNG is able to offer these savings as a result of lower prices for natural gas on the wholesale market.  

This action comes in addition to the nearly $120 in refunds and bill credits NJNG previously provided as well as a reduction of approximately 10 percent to customers bills related to the Basic Gas Supply Service (BGSS) charge since last December.   
    
While the wholesale price of natural gas has been receding, the market still remains volatile. NJNG will monitor the market and continue to look for ways to provide gas cost savings for customers.
