WALL, N.J. – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NYSE:NJR), has expanded its efforts to provide support for those affected by Hurricane Katrina with the establishment of the NJNG Katrina Relief Fund. Last week, NJNG announced an initial $10,000 contribution to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Through the NJNG Katrina Relief Fund, the company will match donations received to the fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total contribution of $50,000 to the American Red Cross.

“The devastation and loss caused by Hurricane Katrina is hard to comprehend. While such tragedy may seem overwhelming, our collective capacity to respond with compassion and assistance is critical to helping those in need,” said Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of NJNG. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help by supporting organizations like the Red Cross, who do so much to restore hope for those who need it most.”

In addition to monetary contributions, NJNG is working in cooperation with Mobile Gas, in Mobile, Ala., to collect supplies needed for first responders helping to restore order to affected areas. Anyone wishing to donate items should bring bottled water, Gatorade, batteries, baby wipes or peanut butter to drop boxes found at NJNG’s offices in Lakewood, Wall, Asbury Park and Rockaway. Collection of these goods will continue until November 15.

NJNG will be soliciting donations to the NJNG Katrina Relief Fund from employees, customers, shareholders, vendors and others through November 15, using various channels, including the customer newsletter sent with bills, letters and on the company’s Web site at njliving.com. Donations may be made to the NJNG Katrina Relief Fund, c/o New Jersey Natural Gas, P.O. Box 1463, Wall, N.J. 07719. Contributions are completely deductible in accordance with IRS Code Section 170(c). Confirmation of donations will be sent directly from the American Red Cross.
