NEW JERSEY NATURAL GAS REMINDS CUSTOMERS OF WINTER METER CARE TIPS
01/25/2005 - For Immediate Release

WALL, N.J. – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), reminds customers when winter weather hits, it’s important to keep natural gas meters free of snow and ice to help prevent damage from freezing:

· Use a broom to carefully remove snow from the meter.
· Carefully remove any ice hanging over the meter.
· Never use sharp tools or instruments on or near the meter.
· Use care when shoveling, plowing or using a snow blower around the meter.

Any NJNG customer experiencing a disruption in natural gas service should contact NJNG immediately at 1-800-221-0051 to investigate. If a gas odor is detected, exit the building and call NJNG from a nearby telephone by dialing 1-800-GAS-LEAK(1-800-427-5325).
