NEW JERSEY RESOURCES ANNOUNCES DIVIDEND
09/03/2004 - For Immediate ReleaseWALL, N.J. – New Jersey Resources (NYSE:NJR) announces that its board of directors has unanimously declared a regular quarterly dividend on its common stock of $.325 per share. The dividend will be payable on October 1, 2004, to shareowners of record on September 15, 2004.

NJR earned $77 million for the nine months ended June 30, 2004, compared with last year’s results of $75.4 million. On a basic per share basis, earnings grew to $2.80 per share, compared with $2.75 per share for the same period last year.
The increase in earnings for the nine months was attributable primarily to improved results at NJR Energy Services, NJR’s unregulated wholesale energy services subsidiary.
In the past eight years, NJR has increased its dividend nine times. The company has paid quarterly dividends on its common stock since 1952.
