WALL, N.J. – New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR) today announced the election of David A. Trice to its Board of Directors. Mr. Trice is president and CEO of the Newfield Exploration Company, a Houston, Texas-based energy exploration and production company.

“David is a proven leader in the energy industry who brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to our Board,” said Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of NJR. “His extensive knowledge of energy issues and strategy, combined with his strong leadership skills, has guided Newfield’s success. It is an honor to have him join us, and we will benefit greatly from his insights.”

Before assuming his current position in February 2000, Mr. Trice served as president and COO. Prior to that position, he was vice president – finance and international from May 1997 to May 1999.

Mr. Trice was one of the original founders of Newfield and served as vice president, CFO and director from 1989 through 1991. Before joining Newfield, Mr. Trice served as president, CEO and director of Huffco Group Inc. from late 1991 through May 1997.

Mr. Trice’s career began as an attorney in 1973 for a private firm in Atlanta before serving nine years as an officer for several companies owned by Roy M. Huffington, Inc. A 1970 recipient of a B.A. in Managerial Science from Duke University, Mr. Trice graduated from Columbia University’s School of Law in 1973.
