NEW JERSEY RESOURCES ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
01/29/2004 - For Immediate ReleaseWALL, N.J. – New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR) recently announced the appointments of Barbara Roma, senior vice president – customer services, New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG); George Smith, vice president – internal audit, NJR; and Stephen Westhoven, vice president – energy trading, NJR Energy Services (NJRES).

Ms. Roma, a member of the NJNG team since 1967, was most recently vice president – customer services. For the 11th consecutive year, NJNG achieved the lowest number of inquiries to the Board of Public Utilities. Ms. Roma resides in Manahawkin, and has a bachelor’s degree from Georgian Court College and a master’s degree in business administration from Monmouth University. She is a member of the American Gas Association and the New Jersey Utilities Association.
Mr. Smith joined NJR in 1984 as an associate auditor, and in his most recent role as director –internal audit he has systematically redefined the internal audit function at NJR. In a 2003 analysis of corporate governance practices by Institutional Shareholder Services, NJR was the highest ranked utility in the Standard and Poor’s 600. Mr. Smith resides in Jackson, and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Monmouth University, and is a member of the Association of Fraud Examiners and the Institute of Internal Audit.
Mr. Westhoven started as a cathodic protection engineer at NJNG in 1990, and his last position was director – energy trading at NJR Energy Services. Since it was established in 1995, NJRES has become one of the top 10 energy services companies in the Northeast. Mr. Westhoven resides in Avon, and has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Catholic University.
